Realize Lab: You've Got the Power, A Two-Part Event Series

Starting with Local Action, Part 1

Wanna be more active in your local community? Get empowered with awareness to make moves and create change in your neighborhood. We’re getting schooled from the experts on civic education!

Workshop 1: How the hell does local government work?

Led by Shaniqua McClendon, Political Strategist, Crooked Media

Many of us have don't have a clear understanding of how local government decisions affect what goes on in our communities. How important are city council members? What does the Mayor do? Exactly how and when are decisions made? A crash course in local gov and how to engage with them to get what we need.

Workshop 2: Voting is just one way to create change.

Led by Betsy Aimee, Marketing and Communications Expert, Born in June Creative

Voting is important and one pathway to change, but what else can we do? Connect with the skills and resources you have to start or support social change initiatives happening locally. We all have something to offer. Featuring a special breakout group activity where we get to put our new knowledge to the test to approach and solve a community issue.

Light lunch + wine + friends + special guests

Part 2 of this event series is taking place on Sun. Feb 5 at Self Help Graphics. Info and tickets TBA. Tickets for these events are being sold separately.

*If you're experiencing extreme financial hardship and would like to attend, email hello@weareloudcommunity.com. We have sliding scale and scholarship tickets available.
